| My dad was able to return from the hospital as planned last Saturday and returned to work on Monday. On Wednesday he visited a vascular surgeon in Grand Rapids. The dissected artery is stable and a followup meeting with the specialist is scheduled for next year. In the meantime, my dad will be on blood-thinning medication for six months and have lifting restrictions. Headaches could continue for the next six months too. Praise God for His protection - that's about as close to a stroke one could be without actually having one. It's another reminder too that we need to cherish those God has given to us - every day is a gift from God. Thank you to everyone who has been lifting up my dad in prayer. =)

| Please remember my dad in your prayers over the next few days and weeks. Yesterday my dad was admitted to the hospital because of a dissected internal carotid artery. Dissected arteries are not good - basically the layers of the artery's wall become separated - both decreasing the blood flow and increasing pressure to the surrounding tissue as the artery "balloons". My dad is experiencing bad headaches and has Horner's Syndrome due to the pressure of the dissection. Last Thursday/Friday of last week was the start of the symptoms and after a few doctor's visits over this past week and several tests, they were able to diagnose the problem. The doctor's have prescribe blood thinning drugs and my dad will probably be able to leave the hospital tomorrow. Lots of things will probably have to change because of the new medication - no more going out to the woods with a chainsaw for my dad - at least for a while. Praise God that it was just a dissecting vessel and nothing worse. God is good all the time.
Thanks!

| Researchers have determined that divorce is bad for the environment. Go figure.
Thanksgiving was lots of fun with my sweetheart! Rachel and I had a grand time in the kitchen creating the Thanksgiving meal. I thought I might show off our handwork.
Clockwise (from bottom): Cranberry sauce, Broccoli-Rice Casserole, Pumpkin Pie, Peanut Brittle, Turkey Gravy, Stuffing, Turkey, Sparkling White Grape Juice, and Mashed Potatoes. Not Pictured: Chocolate Fudge
Furthermore, Rachel and I were also able to get a small Christmas tree for our apartment Thanksgiving weekend. Hilarity ensued. The lights all worked... I don't know how they get so tangled though. I was so careful last year!
And that strand of lights works too! I wasn't paying any attention to them though. "I love you Rachel!"
The completed Christmas tree with its cute "sled" style tree stand. (Get your own at Olde Time Pottery!) DV looks like a deer caught in the headlights and Nilak is being his typical, haughty self. SEE... I haven't killed them! Don't worry, their faces were like that before I adopted them. The cats and I get along SO WELL!
I'm off to make supper... Rachel gets home late tonight and I plan to have a nice pot of chili ready to consume. |
